Hey guys - just wondering if anyone knows a site for free online textbook rentals. I’m looking for a book for one assignment for a group speech class and just can’t justify buying it. (Also the library has nothing online, and can’t drive soooo yeah.)
The book is “The art of small group communication” by Andy Fujishin. Any help would be appreciated!!

2021.10.22 20:35 WinterNothing2 late bloomer need advice
I'm a man in my mid 20s from an asian background. To keep the story short: I'm pretty short (5'5) and scrawny, was bullied a lot growing up and was a huge nerd. I never had much friends and never had any experience with women (no dates) but I danced/kissed some girls at the club on a blue moon occasion. I always hated myself and my race/culture/upbringing. I also think I have aspergers.
I want to be a normal, well adjusted person who has a decent friend circle and a cute girlfriend. Not sure how to do it and need some help. I do have some good qualities that I built from being isolated, I have a mid 6 figure career I love and have traveled to many cities. I am also well educated and intelligent. I also improved my appearance by better grooming, better clothes, more regular exercise, 8h sleep, contacts, etc. I am an introverted guy and generally like more solitary hobbies like reading, learning new things, listening to music, watching netflix, card games.
I want to try expanding my comfort zone and doing more challenging things such as going to the gym (I workout at home currently), doing some mma/boxing and playing tennis. I'd also like a hobby that is more social and can meet women but I am not sure what to pick up. I feel its a lot harder to meet women after college and working in a male dominated field.
Recently, I feel depressed b/c of my lack of experience, feeling like I'm broken and can't be repaired. I feel no girl will want a guy who has no experience and is an aspie weirdo. I'd like to think, I will have a bright future ahead even if the past was terrible but not sure how to get there. I feel I already tried most people's advice on how to make friends and get girls and have gone to typical "normal" events such as clubs, parties, concerts, raves. I've even binge drank several occasions, done most party drugs, etc so not sure how its even possible no girl ever wanted to hookup with me.

Tears streamed down my face as I opened the next door. I could barely see through them as I got blinded by the light inside. It was like a hospital room.
I rubbed my eyes, wiped the tears, and then took a moment to look around as I heard my own blood pulsing in my ears.
Hospital room. Equipment on shelves on the wall, a white hospital bed the middle. A man lay on it, hooked up to an IV.
I stared at him. His eyes were closed, and his chest moved up and down at a steady pace. He was older, his dark hair greying and his beard almost white.
I walked up to the man and gently touched his arm. “Mister, can you hear me?” I asked, my voice trembling.
He didn’t even flinch, and I set out to find the note. There had to be a note in there somewhere.
I moved boxes of plastic gloves, opened drawers filled with medical tools, and searched the medicine cabinets, but couldn’t find a thing.
I turned back to the man and then checked his IV. The bag with liquid only had one word printed on it. Thiopentone.
It meant nothing to me. I still had no idea what was wrong with the man, or why he was hooked up to the IV.
Not knowing what to do at all, I walked to the next door and tried the handle.
My breathing increased and I sat down on a chair, trying to figure out what to do. They want me to do something here, but what?
Taking a gamble, I walked up to the man and gently pulled out the IV. I was fully aware that he might die from me doing this, but there was nothing else in there for me to do, and I prayed to God it was the right thing.
With the IV pulled out, I waited. I nodded off in the chair several times, and I even considered going back to let the couple in. Maybe they’d know what to do. Maybe it wouldn’t matter if they killed me, after all.
Maybe I was going to die anyway. No matter what I did.
I flew off the chair and landed hard on the floor. The man moved. He turned a little on the bed and started to cough. Deep, gurgling coughs.
I stayed frozen on the floor, not daring to move a muscle.
The man slowly sat up on the bed, covering his mouth with his hand. He turned, seeing me. “Who are you?”
I rose to my feet and carefully sat back down on the chair. “I’m Kit, and who are you?”
He flung his legs over the edge of the bed and looked around. “Where the bloody hell am I?”
I shook my head. “I don’t know. I just found you here, hooked up to that IV.”
He frowned, his bushy eyebrows angling down over his eyes. “You don’t know? How did you get here if you don’t know?”
“I… I woke up in a different room. I’ve been going through door after door for a while now. And now I found you here.”
“Is this the nursery?”
It was my turn to frown. “Nursery?”
“Yeah, in the prison? Did I get hurt by someone? I can’t remember.” He scratched his head and kept looking around.
I felt my heart sink. Prison. Why was I stuck in a maze of nightmares with a bunch of criminals?
“We’re not in prison,” I said and walked up to the door again, trying it. Still locked.
“How the hell did I get out, then?”
I shook my head, avoiding his gaze. “I don’t know. Just like I don’t know how I got here myself.”
He rose from the bed. I instantly moved to the wall and felt my blood run cold. What kind of man was he? Would he kill me? Was he evil? What was I supposed to do?
He walked up to me and held out his hand. “Eddie,” he said, waiting for me to shake his hand.
I didn’t. Instead, I smiled. “Pleasure, I guess.”
“Now, Kit, was it? How do we get out of here?”
I nodded towards the locked door. “Through there, but it’s locked.”
Eddie’s hand moved to the back of his track-suit pants. He pulled a note out of his pocket, along with a key.
I stared at both the note and the key, feeling my stomach turn. Was the note for him, or me?
Eddie read the note, his eyebrows raising as he did so. I stood frozen, waiting to see what he would do or say once he was done.
I knew what those notes could do. I knew they could be dangerous.
Eddie folded the note and placed it back in his pocket. He looked at me, smiling, then walked back to the bed and sat down.
“So, what did it say?” I asked, trying not to sound scared.
Eddie scoffed. “Is this some kind of new testing program? To see if we have changed? Come on now, Kit, tell me what this is all about.”
I shook my head and bit my lip. “I have no idea. I told you. I don’t know how I ended up here.”
Eddie touched the bag of liquid, turning it over. “So, you woke me up, huh?”
I nodded. “I did.”
“Alright. What’s waiting behind that door?”
“I told you, I don’t know.”
Eddie rose from the bed and walked up to the door. “Let’s just open it, then. What do you say?”
I swallowed, not daring to say anything.
Eddie placed the key in the keyhole and turned. The note stuck out of his back pocket. I desperately wanted to know what it said. It had to have been addressed to me, and now Eddie knew something I didn’t.
I carefully reached for the note and snatched it. Eddie turned, and in the blink of an eye, he was on top of me on the floor, pinning my hands against the cold floor.
“Now, why did you do that?” he asked, spit flying out of his mouth and landing on my face.
“Let me read the note!” I shouted.
“Why, because you weren’t smart enough to grab it while I was still asleep?”
I looked him in the eye, seeing nothing but rage. “Please, let me go.”
Eddie scoffed and moved away from me, putting the note back in his pocket. I quickly got back up on my feet.
“If you try anything like that on me again, I’ll kill you, you hear me?”
I nodded, knowing now that I had to get the note. One way or another. I should have read it before I decided to wake him up.
Eddie opened the door and stepped through. I carefully followed, worried about what could be waiting on the other side.
“Well, look at that,” I heard him say before I stepped through myself. I gasped as I looked around the room. Red lamps stood on wooden tables, lighting the room up. In the middle of the room lay a bed… or a table… or both. It had straps around it, one for each wrist, and one for each foot.
I took a step back into the hospital room when I noticed the table next to me filled with… torturing devices. Hammers, masks with nails sticking out of them, a machete, and multiple knives of different shapes and sizes.
“What do you think they want us to do here?” Eddie asked, smiling at me, exposing blackened teeth.
Without a second thought, I lunged for the table and grabbed the machete. Eddie struck out, trying to grab me, but lost his footing.
I placed myself in the doorway and aimed the machete at him. “Don’t come any closer,” I growled through gritted teeth, feeling adrenaline course wildly through me.
“Whoa! Why are we getting so aggressive?” Eddie held his hands out in front of him. “I haven’t done anything to you, have I?”
Something inside me told me I had no choice but to get rid of this man. Knock him out, put him back under the IV. Or… if I couldn’t do any of those things, kill him.
My arms started to shake as I held the machete out in front of me. “What were you in prison for?” I asked.
Eddie laughed, then coughed, sounding more like a monster than a human. “What did I do? Let’s see… I took pretty girls, like you, and had some fun with them, before killing them. Is that what you want to hear?”
I swallowed, glancing around the room. “Did you torture them?”
“Still curious? Well yes, I told you, I had fun with them. Do you really think that machete is going to save you now? I wasn’t going to do anything to you, you know, but now you have shown some… hostility. And this seems to be the perfect place. Don’t you think?”
With a lump stuck in my throat, I took a slow step back into the hospital room, my arms nearly giving in from holding the heavy weapon. I had to do something, fast. This man was going to kill me.
Eddie shot one quick glance behind him, and I ran through the room, back to the door I had come from, into the dark room lit by a torch, and fumbled for the key in my pocket.
“Hannah? Are you still there?” I shouted as I twisted the key.
“Kit? You’re back!”
I threw the door open just as Eddie appeared behind me. I bolted into the room, trying to shut it behind me, but the paedophile grabbed onto the side of it and held it open.
“What do you think you’re doing?” he asked.
I watched as Eddie came through the door, pushing the paedophile to the side, causing him to fall flat on his back.
I pointed the machete at him. “Hannah, run to the red room and grab a weapon, now!”
Hannah, shocked, nodded and ran off. Her husband got up off the floor. “Who the fuck are you?” he asked Eddie.
Eddie turned to face him, and I struck the machete from side to side, slicing part of his back.
He screamed out in pain and fell to the floor. I felt my stomach turn, acid made its way up my throat. I threw up, still trying to defend myself with the machete.
“Mark!” Hannah yelled as she came back, holding a knife in her hand. “What’s going on?”
Eddie rose from the floor, stumbling, blood pouring out of the cut on his back. “You are dead!” he growled at me.
I watched Hannah hand the knife to Mark, and he attacked Eddie from behind, stabbing him in the back.
Eddie let out another scream, causing my blood to run cold. He fell to the floor, this time, he didn’t try to get back up. I watched as blood started running out of his mouth.
“He’s not dead!” Hannah cried.
“I’m not doing it,” I said, feeling my stomach threatening to empty itself again.
Mark didn’t hesitate. He lunged with the knife, but Eddie grabbed his hand, twisting it, causing the knife to stab Mark in the chest, right where his heart was.
He collapsed on top of Eddie. Hannah screamed, dropping down to her knees.
A gurgling sound escaped from the men on the floor, and more blood pooled around them. I looked at Hannah, still holding my weapon.
“This is all your fault!” she screamed, her voice sounding like a different person.
I shook my head. “Hannah, don’t do this.”
“And why the hell not?” she asked, tears streaming down her face. “What if only one of us can leave this place?”
I backed against the wall, holding the machete up in front of me. “We’ll work together.”
She was seeing red. She rolled Mark off Eddie, then pulled the knife out like it was stuck to a piece of meat, not her husband. “It ain’t going to be you, Kit.”
I eyed the door. Quickly, I calculated that I would have enough time to run there, close it, and maybe even twist the key in the lock before she could lunge at me with the knife.
“You don’t want to do this,” I said as I slowly moved towards the door.
Hannah wiped her cheek, then aimed the knife at me. “And why wouldn’t I? You killed my husband.”
I shook my head still moving towards the door. “I didn’t, that guy did.”
Hannah started moving closer to me, and I was nearly at the door. “Why are these notes addressed to you?”
I shook my head. “I honestly don’t know.”
“I don’t believe you!” She lunged, and I bolted for the door. She was too quick, and half her body stopped me from closing it again. I tried to push her out, but the knife slashed me across my arm.
I wailed in pain and let go of the door, Hannah fell inside, dropping to the floor, and I had my opportunity. I dropped my machete and grabbed her arms from behind, sitting on top of her, stopping her from doing anything.
“Let go of me you son of a bitch!” she screamed.
“Can you just calm down?” I said. “I don’t want to hurt you!”
She squirmed from under me, and I pulled her arms further back, causing her to scream. “Calm down!” I shouted.
She stopped moving. “What do we do?” she sobbed.
I slowly let go of my tight grip. “We find a way out, that’s what we’re doing.”
She relaxed her entire body and sunk deeper into the floor. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry.”
I let go of her arms and rose to my feet. “I’m getting my note,” I said and walked through the door. I held my hand over my mouth as I moved up to Eddie and touched his cold leg.
I nearly threw up again as I moved it to the side, then sunk my hand into his pocket. I picked up the note, now with stains of blood on it, and then exited the room to where Hannah was.
To my surprise, although it shouldn’t have been, I found her staring at me with the machete in her hands. I didn’t think twice, and I didn’t try to talk her down this time. I threw myself at her, dodging the blade, and twisted her arm, causing her to drop it.
“You won’t give up, won’t you? Just like the note said,” I said and pushed her to the floor.
I grabbed a bundle of her hair, then smashed her head against the floor, hard enough to make her pass out, but I hoped she wasn’t dead.
I didn’t want to live with that on my conscience, even if it was self-defence.
I took a moment to recover, sitting with my back against the wall, calming my breathing. I picked up the note.
If you are reading this, and the inmate is still asleep. Good job, you are smarter than you look.
Don’t wake him up. He’s a murderer with no conscience. The next room will give him all the reasons to kill you too, before we kill him.
If you are reading this after waking him up, however, congratulations! I’m surprised you are still standing.
The key to the next door is in his pocket.
I threw the note on the floor and let out a scream. No tears escaped my eyes, but rage and anger boiled inside me.
I didn’t want to be part of this game. I wanted to go home. I wanted to feel safe again.
I crawled over to Hannah and checked her pulse. Still alive. “I’ll send someone back here to get you,” I said to her before I rose to my feet and walked to the hospital room.
I grabbed bandages to wrap up my arm and stared at the wound, shocked. I didn’t feel any pain, but blood was covering my entire lower arm. I wrapped it up, then walked into the torture room.
I moved the key from the keyhole, then placed it inside the keyhole on the other side of the door. I twisted it, making sure Hannah wouldn’t come after me.
Then I turned to the next door.
I wasn’t surprised to see the door was unlocked. They wanted me to go through it, to meet my next nightmare.
But what I found was different this time.
I walked inside and looked around. Desks, a computer, and camera equipment on shelves. I walked up to the computer and turned on the screen. A video named ‘Erin’ was showing before me, and a button which said ‘Play’.
I sat down on the chair and pressed it.
A girl, about my age, came into view. She was sitting on the floor in a dark room and seemed to be waking up from being asleep. She looked around, then moved to the door inside the room.
In the next, I watched as she found a man stuck in a cage. A note lay on the table in front of him. It was the same room where I had found Candice.
I gasped, watching through the video, seeing the girl go through door after door, making decisions, meeting people, trying to survive.
Each room was different, each person she met were different from the ones I had met.
The hospital room was now a jail cell filled with three inmates, all begging her to set them free. She read her note, then moved along without opening any of them.
It was like the rooms were movie-sets. Changing to fit the story.
Eventually, she got to the room I was now in, and she started watching the videos on the computer.
I turned the video off, then opened the folder where it was. I was shocked to see the sheer number of videos in there, all labelled with a name.
And I knew one of them would now be labelled ‘Kit’.
I opened the one called ‘Joy’ and pushed play. She woke up in the same room, but it took her a long time before she dared to open the first door. She kept crying, sitting on the floor, screaming for help, and touching the handle without opening it.
She was too scared to find out what was behind it.
Once she did, she got met by a man trapped in a rectangular box made out of see-through plastic. He was lying on his back, and something black was crawling all over him. Lots of them.
I leaned closer to the screen. Spiders. There were big spiders crawling inside the box.
Joy screamed and ran back into the first room. She was terrified. I skipped the video ahead, and to my horror, it wasn’t her who walked through the tenth door.
It was someone else. An inmate, most likely.
Joy didn’t make it.
My heart pounded in my chest as I stared at the videos. What was all this? Was it real? Was I asleep? What the hell was going on here?
I turned in my chair, eyeing the door leading out of this room. What would be waiting for me out there? Would they finally kill me, now that they had gotten what they wanted? A show. Seeing how Kit would survive the game.
I jumped as the door clicked. Nobody came through, but I knew it was now unlocked. I rose from my chair and slowly walked to the door, my entire body shaking in fear.
Before grabbing the handle, I noticed a note attached to the wall next to it.
I didn’t touch it, but I read what it said.
Congratulations, you have reached the end.
I know you will be having a lot of questions about this whole thing, what it is, and why you were chosen.
I’m not going to tell you this. People pay good money to enjoy these shows, as you could probably imagine.
None of the criminals were supposed to make it through, and if you have one with you now, they will not make it through this last door.
As for you, we will let you go on and live your life now. You have been of great service.
BUT*, you will not tell anybody about your experience. We are everywhere, watching, and if you decide to tell someone, we will know.*
You don’t want to test us on this.
We give you your life back, in return for your silence.
Now, open the door, and Game Over.
I hadn’t even noticed the tears running down my cheeks. I wiped them away, took a deep breath, and opened the door, aching for this all to end, and for me to go back home.
Part of me still thought I’d get killed anyway, that the last note was just some kind of sick joke.
I was met by darkness, and as soon as I took my first step inside, hands grabbed me, a cloth covered my face, and it all went black.
I woke up in an alley close to my home. Drugged, dizzy, and nauseated. I got up and made my way back to my house.
My parents had been worried sick, as you could imagine, and I told them I had been drugged when I was out, but that I didn’t remember who did it.
They made me make a police report, which I did, lying through my teeth, not daring to tell anyone what had really happened to me.
I wasn’t even sure I was remembering things correctly myself.
I have no idea how many girls have been taken after me. I have no idea what they had to go through, or if all of them survived their ordeal.
God knows who these people are, and who is paying them to watch this horror show.
A real horror show. Real people. Real events.
Throughout the years, I have been searching for the names of the girls in the videos. I found most of them, reported missing, never found again.
The inmates, or criminals, are a different story, though. My suspicion is that they are reported as killed by other inmates, or by suicide. Some may even have just disappeared, without anyone they care about reporting it.
I’m scared as I am writing this. And this letter will go into my safe. I will lock it with a key only I know where to find. And if anybody ever finds it, I will be long gone from this world.
But I do hope somebody finds it.
I want my story to be told.

2021.10.22 20:35 ArsisMetal 2022 Leaf - EVSE 220W
Apologies in advance if I'm misinformed. Are the 2022 Leafs supposed to take 220w charge? My work has a decent amount of 220w outlets available. However, when I plug into any one of them I receive the following status lights:
Ready: Solid Green
Charge: Blinking Amber
Fault: Solid Red
I've taken it to a buddy of mine that has a 220w outlet and his Tesla charges fine. When I try plugging mine in I receive the same fault message. I couldn't figure out if it was my car or the charger. So I took it to a Nissan dealership around my area and they couldn't determine what the issue was either. They weren't able to replicate the issue because they didn't have a 220w outlet available. They actually gave me another EVSE to try out and I'm still receiving this error. I'm kind of at a loss here and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue?
